Les Jâtaka sont les récits des vies antérieures du Bouddha. Ce jâtaka est celui du lion, dans lequel le Boddhisatta s'est réincarné. Il protège le peuple de la forêt en le sauvant de la panique causée par la chute d'un gros fruit d'un arbre vilva à côté duquel un lièvre s'était assoupi. Le mot "daddabha" imite le bruit du fruit qui tombe à terre.

The Jâtaka are the stories of the Buddha's past lives. This jâtaka is that of the lion, in which the Boddhisatta was reincarnated. He protects the people of the forest by saving them from the panic caused by the fall of a large fruit from a vilva tree next to which a hare had fallen asleep. The word "daddabha" imitates the sound of the fruit falling to the ground.
